Speedy Vegetable Soup

2 cans (one 49 oz & one 14 1/2 oz) chicken broth
2 celery ribs, sliced
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 onion, chopped
2 carrots, chopped
1 envelope onion soup mix
1 bay leaf
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp pepper
1 can diced tomatoes

Combine broth, vegetables, soup mix, bay leaf, garlic powder, and pepper.  Bring to a boil.  Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes.  Add tomatoes.  Heat through.  Remove bay leaf.
