Beef Stroganoff

1 1/2 pound round steak, cubed
3 Tbsp oil
1 onion, chopped
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can mushrooms, sliced
1 cup sour cream
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Hot buttered noodles

Brown steak and onion in oil.  Add garlic, salt, and pepper.  Add water (1/2 – 1 cup) and cook, covered, over low heat, about 1 hour or until tender.  Add soup and mushrooms.  Increase heat and cook 5-10 minutes.  Remove from heat and stir in sour cream.  Serve over noodles.
