Strawberry Daquari Granita

1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup lime juice
1 1/2 containers (16 oz each) strawberries, hulled
1/4 cup white rum

Heat water and sugar until sugar dissolves.  Cool.  Pour sugar syrup into a large bowl.  Stir in lime juice.  Puree strawberries.  Strain and discard seeds.  Stir strawberry puree and rum into syrup mixture.  Pour in a metal 13x9 pan.  Freeze for 3 hours, stirring every hour. 

 Serves 6
